2002 Hoek Classic

Newport, Rhode Island

$795,000

Weatherly may well be one of the most beautiful sailboats ever to come off the drawing board of renowned Dutch yacht designer Andre Hoek. 65 feet overall she is constructed in high tech wood epoxy and is an outstanding example of the increasingly popular Spirit of Tradition class of sailing boats, combining the aesthetics of classic wooden boat styling with state of the art wood/epoxy construction. A carbon fiber mast and boom, rod rigging, a deep bulb keel and expansive uncluttered teak decks complete the key features of this beautiful yacht. And: a 65 foot boat which can be sailed single handed.

Built for the original owner by Henze Yachts in Moehnen, Germany in 2002 she has been professionally maintained throughout her life. She was shipped to the US by the current owner in 2015 and has been an admired feature of the New England sailing scene for the past four years. She competed successfully in the last two Newport to Bermuda races and has cruised extensively along the New England coast from Sag Harbor to Eastern Maine.

She is breathtakingly beautiful, fast, seaworthy, comfortable and with her self tacking jib, remarkably easy to sail. She offers accommodation in four separate cabins with a spacious elegant main salon which is equipped with air conditioning and heating. A key attraction is the elegantly designed two berth pilot house offering high visibility shelter from weather and providing a popular assembly point for guests and crew, under way or at anchor.

Weatherly has been maintained continuously to the highest standards throughout her life. New electronics and safety equipment were installed prior to the 2016 Newport to Bermuda race and the shore power electrics fully converted to the US system. In the Winter 2018/2019 the hull and pilot house were wooded and refinished in clear Awlgrip by the Front Street shipyard in Belfast, Maine. She looks spectacular with the added advantage of being easy to maintain.

Weatherly is a unique representative of her class, eye wateringly beautiful, highly seaworthy, simple to sail and operate, combining function with style and simplicity. A Zen experience!
